Unhappy FastTrack Pro, No sound in/out, M-Powered 7

I wanted to make the title as descriptive as possible. I just started using Pro Tools M-Powered 7, and recently bought the M-Audio FastTrack Pro. I previously was using the little M-Audio FastTrack and Sonar3 Producers addition. I've searched the forums here for about 3 hours, and cannot find this problem.

The problem I am having is that when I'm trying to record, the Pro Tools software does not seem to hear my instrument, what I mean is that the meter that shows how loud you are, and whether you are peaking, the meter is not moving. Forgive me, but I'm not up on the producer or audio lingo, I don't mean to sound ignorant.

So I tested a theory, I imported a wave file and tried to see if that would at least playback, it shows that it was playing, but again no sound.

Now...in Sonar3 it's pretty simple, on the audio track you choose your input, which in my case was usually FastTrack Right, and then you choose your output, which was my soundblaster card. You do this on each and every track, whether it's and audio track or a midi track.

Is there someone out there that understands or can help me with my problem? I really appreciate it.

Look at the mix window in Pro tools on the audio track you are trying to record in. A couple of buttons up from the fader is an input selector. Click it and it should have the FTP there. Select the appropraite input

Talking Re: FastTrack Pro, No sound in/out, M-Powered 7

I believe I have just solved the problem, and thank you sooo much for replying. I was plugging the instrument into the jack in the back of the FastTrack Pro called "Insert 1". I didn't even think to try plugging into the front because it looks like a mic input. Then I notices "the hole in the middle"

When I plug the instrument into the FRONT of the FastTrack, vwalla we have sound!!!!!!!
