Default Pro Tools freezing/acting strange on one session only

Hi,

I have been runnning Pro Tools LE 7.3.1cs5 and Mbox2 for 2 years and all has been fine, however, I am trying to open a known working session from 3 months ago and have the following symptoms:

- session seems to have trouble loading completely as Strike plug-in sometimes freezes
- CPU usage is high
- when session finally loads and I play the track, the cursor does not move but sound does play
- when I attempt to place the cursor in a different part of the song, the cursor does not move. The song will only play from the beginning. I am also unable to highlight sections because the cursor appears immovable.

Note - I have no problems with any other sessions - it is just this one song (and it was working 3 months ago).

My system is a Digidesign approved Dell Precision 390 running Windows XP.

Thanks,

Roland

Sometimes the audio files end up in other places and PT has to work harder to stream them. Try "saving a copy in" and checking the box "with audio files" to a different location, and see it that works better!

Thanks - I tried your suggestion, also defragmented the disk, and copied back the PT session files from a CD backup I perform monthly. Unfortunately, no difference.

I was, however, able to salvage the session. The problem was Strike - once I removed the Strike plug-in from the instrument track, PT started behaving properly. I then inserted Strike again and all was well. I am wondering if it's due to the recent Strike exansion that was released (and installed by me) in January?

Note - I did lose my Strike Automation and all customization to the Strike patterns from the original session but at least I didn't lose the performance of the other tracks.

Thanks.
