Pro Tools Loses connection with 002? please help.
hello there:
I have a P4 2.0 ghz, 1gig RAM machine running win XP w/ SP1. I am using PT 6.4. I initially had to replace the power harnass when i got my digi 002, but after that i have not had one single bump in the road until now. When i power on my 002, it takes a very long time for it to get out of the "loading" stage and then when it finally says standby and it appears ready for me to launch pro tools, it randomly goes back to loading, as if my computer is trying to communicate with the 002 but cannot. If i load PT, sometimes everything will go smooth, others, I will get a message saying that "PTs cannot locate Digi 002". I noticed that the green firewire light on the back of the 002 goes back and forth from being lit up, to not being lit up. If i am not mistaken it should always be a solid green??? This leads me to believe that there is a firewire connectivity issue going on. I have never had this problem before and I have a digi certified firewire card. I tried another firewire cable but to no avail. If anyone can please offer any insights that would be wonderful. anyone had this problem before? Is it a bitch to fix etc. much thanks in advance, Joe |

Re: Pro Tools Loses connection with 002? please he
From what it sounds like,.. you have one of the DIgi002's that have a faulty Firewire harness,.. you should call Digidesign and speak with them about having it RA'd. They should have fixed that problem long ago,... guess one may have slipped through the cracks.
Don't mean to scare you,... I had teh same problem tho. Have you tried a different FW cable? and also tested your Firewire port with another FW device? Make sure your FW card is seated properly in youe computer. |

Re: Pro Tools Loses connection with 002? please help.
I am running my 002 on a mac G-4 powerbook, but I've been having the same problem. I found some information that it could be a power related problem and Digi Design dould send a fuse or some part od the units power supply to keep the firewire connection solid, But in my case that got blown out of the water when the guy at Giutar Center hooked his mac in and it held solid. So now I'm looking at other solutiions in my computer, but the power thing my apply to you, it's a know problem.

Like Kitana says... Sounds like the power harness issue... Don't fret, it's an easy ten minute fix...
