Default g4Port, OS 10.3.6 and PT 6.4 Mix+ and USD

Hi,

We're wondering whether anyone knows if anyone knows if you can get PT 6.4 on OS X on a dual G4 to see a USD. Trying to send MTC to the USD to drive automation on our console. Can anyone assist?

Thanks,

Jason

i would avoid 10.3.6 -- lots of problems with firewire. stay at 10.3.5 or jump to 10.3.7 digi won't approve 10.3.6

Are you using Mix or HD hardware? 6.4 is supported with HD only. 6.4.1 is for Mix. The USD will only work with Mix and should be connected directly to the Digiserial port on the Mix Core rather than using a G port.

We're using Mix+ hardware, PT 6.4.1, as you say. We just upgraded from a G3 which was connected to an SSD.

It sounds like the USD will work fine on the digiserial port, but will the SSD?

Thanks,

Jason

The SSD is not available as a choice in the Peripherals>Syncronization dialog in 6.4.1. You could get some functionality by connecting it as a Generic MTC reader and controlling the unit standalone from the front panel. However, to set the SMPTE start time you'd need to control it from the SSD Setup application (OS9 only). I think the USD will be your best bet.
