Re: new midi feature request
We have a department working on a number of tutorial projects, but the suggestion to include QuickTime tutorials in the Help menu or at least on the CD is a good one.
In the meantime, we've tried to make these accessible from a few places on the website. Besides being available in the Products section, the "Links We Like" link here on the DUC footer and the Downloads section, these have been linked from the main Tech Support page for a few months: http://www.digidesign.com/support/techsupport.html

However, I know a lot of people saying "Wow these are great." So there are still a lot of people who do not know about this. You can advertise this on your front page. I say this because the movies are really impressive and they are not really used for marketing for Digi's sake. I personally do not look at tech support page unless i am in trouble. So if you are a new user and everything is working fine then you may overlook that. For me, watching every single quick time movie was as valuable as reading the manual. Only 100 times faster. It is like downloading PT LE knowledge in to your brain justlike in the movie "Matrix". Of course, i also read the manual.

Dido! I still want to be able to use the right click of the pencil to adjust the velocity, the same way I can use it to draw the duration. Duration and velocity are the two things I need instant control of when writing in new midi parts. |

I know all major DAWs, so ican compare let's see. 1. In Cubase, you can right-Click and grab the Pencil 2. Enter the Note 3. right-Click and grab the Velocity tool 4. Adjust your Velocity with the opening fader In Logic you have to turn on Hyperdraw then pick the little red points. You have to go into another window firts of course. Forget it. Too complicated. IN PT LE; 1. Grab the pencil 2. Enter note 3. Ctrl Click in the Velocity box and move the mouse up or down. It actually takes a lot shorter to do that than right clicking and switching tools. I timed it and it takes me half the time to grab the pencil, enter note and change the velocity, enter note and change the velocity, enter note and change the velocity etc... as you can see it becomes 2 steps after the first grabbing of the pencil. If you had to right click and and change tools in between, forget it it is tiresome. Try it. Grab the pencil enter the note and Ctrl Click-Hold the Velocity box in the edit window and adjust the velocity by moving your mouse up and down. You will see what I mean. In addition to this, after you are done entering all the notes, you can grab the trimmer tool and adjust all of your velocities if you select them all. Now that is not this easy in any of the sequencers.

new midi feature request
I would like to be able to adjust the velocity on a midi note as I enter it. Currently you have to
1 draw a midi note 2 switch to velocity 3 switch to the grabber tool 4 click and drag the note 5 switch back to the pencil 6 switch back to notes mode and start the whole process over... Beleive me this is a huge expense to pay for changing a notes velocity, and it can totally stiffle the creative process. Maybe you could work something out with the right button on my mouse...Maybe there's already a way to do it(in which case I'll look like an ass)I just want to be able to write a few drum fills or synth leads without it taking hours...Thanks |

Re: new midi feature request
Hi,
OK. There is no need for that at all. 1. As soon as you click on a note, it shows its numerical velocity in the top right box set in green. Just highlight and change the value. Best explained vsually here; http://www.digidesign.com/products/h..._compose2.html 2. You can have an event list window open when you are editing note by note. Then click on a note and edit as you like...again just like here; http://www.digidesign.com/products/h..._compose3.html Actually, these 2 examples are by far the easiest methods i have ever seen. You should see Cubase and Logic. I would recommend learning PT LE to its full potential first. It looks like a very simple program and it is. However, people rarely pick up their manuals. It is a very deep program with powerful tools. Good Luck

Re: new midi feature request
Hi again,
I have one thing to say for Digidesign though. Why don't you guys include these quick time movies inside your CD or make it a part of your help system? Noone really knows about these. You obviously went thru hell of a trouble to make these movies and you do not even advertise this to prove it is really easy to use PT LE. Interesting...
