I knocked on it and out came a little man. Couldn't have been more then 3 feet tall. He escorted me into the main room where I awaited "the man".

He approached me from his throne wearing a cape with a big "A" on the chest. He told me he was awaiting my visit.

I told him we needed to speak. We spoke for what felt like 12 hours. We laughed. We cried. We talked of the good old days when Sound Tools reigned supreme and Pro Tools costed thousands to playback merely 4 tracks.

We got drunk. We got giddy. Then I brought up "the issue". "Avid" I said. "We need drivers for some of the older controllers." I mentioned them by name and he paused for second. Pulled out a little remote control that had but one button on it. It was red. How convenient.

He pushed that little button and before I could say "Contr…" I was 300 feet below running for my life on a field of grass being chased by a dozen hungry wolves.

You see. I never did get my answer. But in another way. I think that I did…

To me, that is the definition of discrimination. Long live Pro Tools but fire every single person in charge of making decisions at avid.

Kenny, great imagination, but unprofessional. You moderators are the voice of Avid. You accepted the title.. You can't have it both ways.. if you guys want to be respected, i would suggest you would lay off the sarcasm. The whole "we don't work for Avid, but we have special privelages" is getting old.. and also the luxury of saying whatever you guys want...

OK. Here's what really happened.

And keep in mind. This might be as wrong as my first attempt.

You guys complained to us.

We complained to the people who you see pop in now and again who work for Avid.

They complained to the people that put them in charge of the forums.

They complained to the people that hired them and they complained to anyone who would listen.

Someone had a meeting to discuss it. They probably ran the numbers. They decided against it.

I wasn't in the meeting. None of my peers were in the meeting and I'm betting that no one in the next three levels were in the meeting either.

It won't be televised and a transcript of the meeting isn't available online.

I'm pretty sure that Julian Asange and Edward Snowden won't be getting involved either.

I know you guys want a better answer and you probably deserve one but this is it. A better answer won't change our situation unfortunately. The result will still be the same.

I believe that the people making this decision monitored this thread along with our suggestions so our voice was no louder than any other user.

My apologies.

I have my very own Microsoft mouse do custom functions in Pro Tools that no Avid hardware controller could even touch. Is Microsoft or Avid going to come after me for writing programs to make my mouse do what I want it to do? Are Avid lawyers really going to go after evangelistic users for remapping output controller data in order to keep using the very software they love using(that being PT of course)? This is very unlikely and would be a complete PR disaster in my opinion.

I am willing to pay for the remapping program for ProControl.

So does anyone know if the .dll and .rsr personality files are all that's needed for the controllers to communicate with Pro Tools?
Perhaps someone on here knows someone who can answer these questions?

A little levity never hurt no one.

And I am not the "voice" of Avid.

Some people here really need to lighten up...

And I do own a PC.
...and previously also had a C24 which I didn't like that much compared to the PC.

So yes if your saying to just lie down and give up,i say stay out!
I wanted to upgrade all of my blue i/o boxes and digi pres wont do it now.
Again not a threat just the truth.
Why would anyone want avid to lose business
Why would anyone tell us to give up
There was a new survey sent out via email today that I know a few have received. I recommend filling it out. Be honest in your replies both pro and con. Though it's easy to vent on these surveys, I recommend they be written in a respectful tone so we know they will be read at HQ and taken seriously. There is usually an "other" section on the surveys where one can communicate how this decision affects them. I hope others in this thread who have decided to pack it in will also do the same. By filling out the survey, our voices will still be heard. These surveys are read, taken seriously, and important for feedback and marketing etc. I will be filling out mine also and continue lobbying for a change on this decision via this outlet.
