If nothing else works and you really need to run a script after every reboot, you can automate it with Automator (such convenient name). There is a step called "run shell script" which you can use for your repeated script run.

Having the same problem here. Had to update studio computer to Big Sur to accomodate some hardware. HDX is detected if I use the terminal command, but not after a restart. Did the three separate terminal commands (one in recovery mode) listed on that Avid support page. Security prefs never ask me to permit the HD driver, and it never stays active. I think there's a typo as well in the command they say to use in Recovery Mode - I have to type the Macintosh HD bit manually, otherwise I get "Invalid argument - HD".

I'm totally at my wits end here. Anyone got any suggestions? It does all seem to link to these security warnings.

Any luck on this, my friend has spent days trying to get this working. He has a mac mini 2018 with the Avid Thunderbolt 3 box and HDX card. I had him take the card out and put it in his old mac pro to see if it needed a firmware update which it did so he updated the firmware. We thought that must be the fix, but when he put it back in the thunderbolt box Pro Tools still crashes when he launches it. The HDX card shows up in the Hardware setup and the macs system report, but not in core audio audio midi setup. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Actually, I did get this sorted.

Firstly, I noticed Avid had changed the advice on their support page:

These are much clearer specific instructions.

I also updated the machine to the latest Big Sur (11.6, I think?). With these two things done, when installing the HD driver it triggered the request for permissions properly, and it's all good. Same for UAD, which I also was having problems with.

I'm having the same issue on my 2019 MacPro with the internal HDX card since yesterday. It has been up and running for the past year, I upgraded to Big Sur about 4 months ago with no issues. Yesterday I upgraded my UAD Satellite to the latest firmware hit the allow button in Security (there was the UAD permissions and an Avid Permission (not sure which one) I set to Allow) and since then my HDX card is no longer recognized.
I followed the KB article listed here and when I run the "sudo touch /Library/Extensions" command it loads the card driver and all works but when I reboot it's gone again.
I opened up a case with Avid Support, Case: 04306800 yesterday but have not gotten any response back from them.

When I look at System report it shows the card with the Driver Installed as "No". I removed and reinstalled the driver several times same result.
The Blocked section is clear and the Extension section for DigiDal shows:

When I run the sudo command the Loaded changes to "Yes"
For now I am running the sudo Touch command after reboot but I am hoping that there is a proper solution for this.

If anyone has any more info on what to try to fix this please help.

It appears that AVID fixed the issue on the new 2021.12 released today:

"Installer
Fixed an issue that prevented HDX from being available after the first installation of the HD driver on macOS."

Who will be brave to try?

I'm still on 2021.6 here.

NOPE!! 2021.10 worked on our HDX2, but not our HD Native systems. Now .12 works on one Native and the HDX is dead. Moving the HDX back to 2021.10 for now. Very frustrating... I hoped this would be it!

I just spent about 2-hours trying different versions, eventually uninstalling the .12 driver multiple times, even though it said it had completed the task. Tried installing .10 which had previously worked and now it doesn't. Ran the uninstaller. Went back to .7 and nothing. Ran multiple uninstallers and, you would think if there wasn't anything to uninstall there'd be a message. Not so, so I kept going and eventually tried to install .12 again... this time it took. Confirmed by rebooting the Mac and it was still there.

BTW, the fastest way to see if it loads without having to boot ProTools is to run System Report and check the status of PCI. This will quickly show if the drivers are loaded or not.

At this point the Mac Pro is staying ON until we can get our work done. Now I have to see if I can update our HD Native systems to work with .12.

the 2021.12 version did not fix my issue, it did however bring back the "Allow" prompt.
Avid support helped me get it finally resolved by disabling SIP, then uninstalling, re-installing and then finally re-enabling SIP.

Everything else did not work on my end. Apple should really be ashamed of that crappy design.

If you are the only user of that computer, you can pretty safely leave SIP disabled. Helps on updates later. Obviously Apple tells you otherwise, but if it is a security feature, how much do you fear yourself?
