Default Custom plugin mapping

To the hive mind....or Jeff.
When creating, for example, a custom control knob mapping for an eq plugin on the Avid control app/Dock, where is this mapping stored? Is it specific to the open session only or is it something that can be transferred between sessions?

Thanks Jeff. Can there be more than one? Can you rename in the finder?

Here's more detail. An individual XML file is created when a custom map has been programmed (regardless of width). Here you can see some of the maps I've created - some of these started on S6 - 4x2 MTM -> and can be used on the encoder columns on the Dock.

Looks good. And how are these mapping profiles loaded? When the specific plug is opened? Or some other way? Can you have multiple profiles available for a plug that can be called up depending on your own workflow. I'm using the dock and a couple of S1s.

Yes

No.
You get one custom map per plugin. And then you always have the default map. (These custom maps are stored in the Eucon profile for the program that's in focus. So you could have a different map for the same plugin between different applications like Cubase vs Pro Tools.)

Thank you BScout. Very helpful. I guess I could create some different profiles, store them in another location and pull them in as needed.

Hi Jeff
I see you have a custom map for pro Q 3 in that folder.
How does that work?
I've never been able to successfully create one because the plugin bands always seem to be out of sequence when I create them.
Do you use a fixed number of bands in a preset?

Greetings,

A few questions. Would you like to create an Insert Parameters map (teal) - for example to interleave dynamics parameters in addition to standard EQ parameters? Or - are you modifying the dedicated EQ map (magenta) to optimize how the basic EQ is laid out?

Also - as a general recommendation - I would always start with a Flat 7 bands preset with FabFilter and work from there.

best,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I tried modifying the dedicated EQ map as I don't tend to use the compression features as much.

I tried with the flat 7 bands but the eq nodes are still out of sequence on that, unless I'm doing something wrong.
I don't suppose you have a custom map you could share do you, it would be great to see what you've done to make it work?

Thanks

Martin
