Default protools 10 11 12 non HD compatibility

I've just seen a bundle for PT10 11 12 vanilla

I am coming to a close on a 52 part TV series.. looks like I will have weeks of outputting..

Might consider getting a 2nd rig and some one to help locally.

will a Non HD rig be ok with my bus structure? I'm planning to bus out Mix - and stems of music, M and E , Dialog and SFX

This is a stereo show.

anything else I havent considered? This is my first TV episodic in Protools - I was using DP before. Have only done movies in PT so far

For a stereo show it will probably be OK. At least with v12, as long as you're not over the track limit. I believe there is no more bus limit. Recording is limited to 32 tracks.

I know it's been said but it would be super nice if Avid would sell AND rent HD. It fits in with the whole cloud/subscription/rental model they want. I'm sure they want to get rid of all the hardware they're sitting on but seriously. Give your customers what they want. I have no desire to rent my software but sometimes I need an extra editor to work at home. I would happily budget for an HD rental license plus whatever plugins are needed. Win-win.

The biggest issue you are going to face is the 32 to 64 bit plug in transition. You will need to make certain that you have plug in parity between the two systems.

Great to have another system for bouncing, though offline bouncing is so helpful already that it's almost not worth the save then import to another system. But... recording to another system might be helpful and of course, video satellite LE is also great

be careful of going from newer to older though, some of the bussing will get wrecked. Try and have parity between systems and like mentioned above, make sure all your plugins are 64 bit aax (So not WAVES TDM)

thanks - some food for thought - actually depends how fast they want all this stuff..

I might be able to borrow a old colleagues for a trial first -

Renting does sound like a great idea.

Never used the rental options at all.

I guess I didn't catch that you were going from 10 to 11/12. I thought you were just referring to the combo lincense. So what those guys said.

actually using an identical 10 rig on my laptop would be quite a time saver..

might be the easy thing to do.

so thats my new question. will my stereo PT 10 HD session playout / record on a vanilla.

I have used bus masters for compression that are feeding multiple other buses

ie SFX bus going to mix comp/rec bus - M and E comp/rec bus - and SFX rec bus

Is that supported in vanilla PT 10?
