Sound Effects Library End User License Agreements
So, it seems the standard for allowing redistribution of purchased sound effects is that the effects have to be "synchronized in time relation to the production" - essentially allowing you to use them in the finished mix, but not to distribute the individual files.
In the era of Pro Tools: does delivering a complete session to a client still qualify as a legal distribution of the licensed effects- since it is technically sync, but also contains all the individual files? I wondered if anyone had ever had an problems, had questioned Sound Ideas or other companies about this... I've traditionally steered clients away from taking PT sessions -- instead providing reasonable break-out stems, but with clients more often looking to archive mix session- wondered if this had come up...

Re: Sound Effects Library End User License Agreements
A lot of editors consolidate a bunch or regions, or even whole tracks, and deliver PT sessions that way.
(Of course in doing so, you lose the ability to rework the cuts. Which could be a real pain for, say, backgrounds conform. ) -jeremiah |
