No bounce offline? I have to change DAW
Dear Avid,
I'm a Pro tools user (version 9.0.6) and a PT lover, the mixing window is very fast, simple and intuitive. Like PT in general. BUT I'm finishing a 2-hours project, with non-stop music and about 40 tracks and more. I need to export each track separately, just mixed and not only the region with the "export region as files". I just did this, but now I must mix and export each track mixed. So....what I have to do? Bounce to disk for each track? With real time bouncing? 40 tracks X 2 hours????? No, no, no. Don't wanna waste so much time. Sorry Avid, but...or you can suggest me a faster way to have my 40 mixed exported separately, or I must buy Logic Pro or other daw Instead of Pro Tools 10. We know pro tools sounds better, but also logic sounds great, not like pt phearaps, but offline bounce it's a MUST-HAVE for the project i described above. Please, avid.... We love Pro Tools, don't force us to change daw. Please promise us to think seriously about the offline bounce implementation in all Pro Tools next releases. 10.3 or 11. We need offline bounce, but we want to use Pro Tools for this. Hopefully L. Now I' buying Logic Pro...do I have other choice to finish my 2hours-40tracks project? |

This isn't the most graceful way... but you can bounce all 40 tracks in the two hours. Create 40 new tracks. Buss each track to its own new track. Arm, record. Not graceful as I said, but this will let you bounce all 40 simultaneously to its own track, then you can do a mass export regions as files. If your system can't handle 40 records at once, do 20 of each. 4 hours is definitely better than 80, and I imagine even a non-real time bounce will take at least a couple of hours with 40 tracks at 2h long each.

Re: No bounce offline? I have to change DAW
Luke,
I would take Dism's approach. There is actually a huge advantage to working that way. If you have to make a change, you can simply just punch in that section, consolidate the clips together and then export regions as files which would be faster than using faster than realtime bouncing (FTRT). I use to complain a lot about no FTRT bouncing, but I have discovered that setting things up as Dism explains or printing the whole mix to an audio track inside of the session is usually faster than FTRT bouncing after you have printed your first mix. Anyways, I do hope to see FTRT bouncing in PT 11. There are definite applications where it can be easier (such as your scenario).
