Default Problems re: MBox and MIDI on Dell 700m laptop

Howdy, folks. Would appreciate some help.

I'm running a Dell 700m with 725 M processor, XP Pro SP2, 512M RAM.
I'm having some issues using my Edirol UM-2 and Reason Adapted with LE 6.4 (MBox).

1) -9092 and -9093 errors at any hardware buffer size during recording of 1 MIDI track assigned to Reason. Session is vanilla: 1 MIDI track, 1 stereo aux for Reason ReWire, 1 mono aux for RTAS click.

2) When using a Belkin powered USB hub, the computer returns error message of "too much USB power draw" if either Mbox or UM-2 is connected to the hub, even if no other USB peripherals are connected. Message does not appear if devices are connected directly to motherboard USB. Without a hub, I can't connect an iLok or my Bluetooth antenna...

I chose the 700m over an Inspiron 8600 with the same config, save the faster internal drive. Any reason the latter would be a much better choice in this case? Are people running a USB MIDI interface with this machine and 002 instead of Mbox?

Much obliged, all.

Hi
I found this on search..I am considering a purchase of the 700m. Any info on your experience with this machine would be most helpful. Trying to keep with a DELL as it an approved business purchase. 8600 and 9200 are both an option as well.
Thanks for any insight.
Bryan
