Default Surround to Stereo Monitoring (Neyrinck alternative)

Hello,
I'm a PT10 + CPTK > PT11HD convert and I have some 5.1 tracks on my system that I'd like to monitor in stereo headphones.

Before I could slap on the Neyrinck plug in which was included in CPTK, but now is no longer a part of the deal. I don't immediately see an alternative included with PT11HD.

Please tell me I'm overlooking something. Don't really want to split into mono and adjust volume/pan to compensate.

Thanks.

Brian

under multi-channel or multi mono plug-in?

edit: nevermind... problem is I can't put it on a master fader. Makes sense. Thank you!!

You can also simply double buss and build a "downmix plugin" yourself with adjustable mono busses. That being said, the Neyrink Soundcode LtRt is pretty cool and well worth it's money. It also features a ProLogicIIx decoder if you ever need one.

Spanner from Maggot Systems works well.

Glad you mentioned that! Not to hijack the thread, but I just had to deliver my first set of stereo stems from a 5.1 mix, and it's not clear to me why I can't put the Downmixer plug on the 5.1 Master Fader. My groups pass through 5.1 busses before going to the output so I can do the downmix there, but the output file is still six channels and I have to then convert that to stereo. Do I need to run all these busses through yet another 5.1 aux before the master fader?

This 5.1 aux will BE your "master fader". You will feed your re-recording tracks from there.

Sure, that makes sense, and would eliminate any restrictions on stereo monitoring and file output. This project was literally my first PTHD gig, which I inherited mid-mix. Lots of stereo projects since then, but unfortunately no surround work.

You can insert a Spanner at any stage and get a down mix tailored to whatever monitoring setup you have... even on a master fader.

the difference is that on a master fader you can't change the output format so you'd insert the 5.1 Spanner and call up a stereo down mix preset.
the result would be a 5.1 output with the signal on just the L and R.

you can then record that stereo subpath or arrange your monitoring to hear it.

Alas! No Windows version, or I'd own it already!
