Plugging Guitar into a 002
Hey Guys,
Right now I'm plugging my guitar straight into the line*inst input #3 on the back of my 002R. I'm not running it through a DI box or anything. Am I supposed to? Also, what about the rest of the in's (5-8)? Can I plug my guitar/bass into those? I heard something about there being a danger to your equiptment if you plug a guitar straight into a line-in without using a DI box. Is this true? If not, should the setting be on -10 or +4? Thanks a million, Jon PS - Sorry if this question has already been answered. I searched the forum and couldn't find anything. |

Re: Plugging Guitar into a 002
Line inputs 1-4 were supposedly designed to be used as instrument level inputs as well as line level inputs. 5-8 are standard line level inputs and should not be used as instrument level inputs.
I used inputs 1-4 for my guitar for a year and a half before I got a dedicated DI box for it with no ill effects. You will probably find that you get better tonal results with a dedicated DI. I did.

Re: Plugging Guitar into a 002
Gotcha, so it's not a problem if I don't have one. That's what I wanted to know.
Thanks. |

Re: Plugging Guitar into a 002
I just bought a Radial JDI Duplex direct box for my 003. I play Chapman Stick and guitar. The difference is HUGE. I was blown away at how much better my instruments sound. Do yourself a favor and check out this product. The difference really justifies the price.

Re: Plugging Guitar into a 002
I also have a Radial DI box (the J48), and I definitely recommend it. I also use the JDX-amp for re-amping. (they came as a pair ).
