was getting this message (the current playback engine does not support a sample rate of 44.1 kHz).. did what other posts on this page said to do and that did not work so I uninstalled the mbox and now I am stuck. Should I uninstall pro tools 12? I only brought the upgrade and ionstalled it to my new computer (windows 8) 2 days ago.

There are some other threads about this, the solution given by Avid to me was to plug in a pair of headphones on the onboard sound of your computer so the OS wont share your ASIO interface with Protools.

Can you open recent sessions? Maybe just the ones that are on 48? I'm running Win 7 pro x64 too with a Fast Track USB and the trick with the headphones jack plugged into the onboard audio out solved my problem... It's not elegant but it works.

I been fibbling now with everything.. so now i cant open a new proj..

tried to uninstall PT and re install it.. Probably the easy way is to Format the c: and start from the beginning..

The problem can haw with i first tested a KORG mini keyboard and switched it to a Launchkey..

but the problem is that PT cant HUB control the Mbox..
Under PT Setup, Hardware setup, the Sample Rate is not "active"
Mbox "Launch control panel" (from PT Hardware setup) works, but Sample rate is not adjustable..

Perhaps your computer does not have onboard sound card but... Did you tried what I said? You can also trash your PT preferences.

Just throwing this out there... Are you, or can you try running the MBox on USB 2.0?

no USB 2..

but everything ells works.. even PT 10 works.. (with some other fault, because the session is for 11..)

anyway, I think I jump the fault search and just install a clean Win8 on a formatted C-drive..
The old sessions anyway needed some polish work, and i can just hope i don't need to go back to sibelius MIDI status..

Well... When the fever of reinstalling Windows gets you, there's nothing else to do... I would trash the preferences and try to make Windows to use the onboard sound so it doesn't conflicts with the Mbox, before.
Been there, done that, I just hope it works in your case.

Re installed the (un-used) motherboards "internal"spdif and told Win to use it..
so now i got it to "work"!!

perfect!
Just do the session upp to lv and export everything and do a clean install on a frech/clean drive!
