Default 003R acting strange?

I recently sold my 002R and got a 003R (wanted the 003R+, but it wasn't available when I needed an interface). Now I made the first recordings with it and found out some things being different than with 002R:
  1. two or three clicking sounds and flashing lights when switching on
  2. short dropout in the headphone signal when starting to record
  3. I need to crank up the mic pres nearly fully to get decent levels with Rode NT5s connected.
Can anyone verify this is normal?

1. is normal with how the relays come on in the power supply.
3. What sound source are you recording?

I don't understand the explanation. Is this a fault or normal thing? I have this problem sometimes too.

The clicking an flashing lights are normal from my 002. I'd assume the 003 is the same. So, as far as I've always seen, it is normal.

last night I was recording a choir and some days ago a brass band. Didn't try it on really loud sources until now, but compared to my 002R it seems to me like I need to turn the gains way more up.

Well, I can't remember my 002R did this, but my friend's HD interfaces are clicking similar on startup.

My 003R does clicks 3 times as well when powered on... it hasn't burst into flames yet so i'm assuming this is typical.

My 003R will do a total of 4 clicking events on startup, three single events and then a pair of clicks (higher pitch quickly followed by a lower pitch).

As far as cranking the pres, I have my pres down when recording but I've record more drums than anything else. Very rarely do I have any pre over half way when recording anything else, same for internal and external pres. If using 5-8, make sure the gain button on the back of the unit is set to +4.

I get a bunch of clicks with my 003 Rack as well.

It has happened since day one, but I've never had any issues with it and have been using for one year on a small scale somewhat limited basis.

the 002 clicks aswell. This is normal I believe, not strange.

It is the digital clock engaging and the 1394 (firewire) connection setting its self up.

If it keeps clicking and does not show the 1394 green LED then you have problems.

This can mean the coulping is not taking place and repairs will be needed.

A:)
