How to adjust overall length for mixdown?

Can anyone tell me how to remove the dead space at the beginning and end of a song? When I bounce my final mixdown to disk it has dead space at the beginning and end of the song, and I don't know how to remove it before I bounce it to disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In the timeruler in the editwindow, you can select a part of your song. If you do that prior to choosing to bounce to disk, you will only bounce your selection. If you have a reverb or delay in your mix, make sure you select a little bit more to avoid the reverb being broken off....

you should probably have an editing program, like Sound Forge. you can trim your song, fade it out, do cool crossfades, mix pastes, etc. you can do this in ProTools, but programs ilke Sound Forge were built for this type of editing. or, you could just import your bounce into a new session and trim the way you want.

a good free wav editor is GoldWave. it does all the basic stuff like trim, fade, volume, etc. great free utility...

Also, to shorten your overall session length, like when the song ends at measure 80, but you let it record & roll all the way to 200.
So, you want to shave that excess space off.

1.Click the 'Shuffle' Mode button.
2. In the Time bar, highlight going left to right, from the end of the song all the way to the end of the session (so the excess is all black).
3. Hit 'Delete'... that's it. [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img]
