Default Digi\'s PCI to PCIe Crossgrade offer

Well,

I've seen this on the website's home page for a few weeks now so I decided to call Digi's hardware exchange department. After informing the gentleman I spoke to about the offer they have posted and explaining my current set-up(HD3 PCI) I am told the exchange/crossgrade price which, to my dismay, is the same exchange price that's been listed for months!

Just in case anyone's missed this, here's the quote right from the advertisement: "Act now and save up to $1,200 from previous crossgrade prices before this program ends on December 20, 2006."

So, am I just not reading this correctly or do these savings apply to something other than the PCIe Crossgrade offer??

Had the same issue and called their telesales last week and someone finally confirmed that the pricing was better and for the Hd1 crossgrade was $200 lower than previous - so I suggest calling them - the guy was very helpful anbd acknowledged the "confusion".

Yes... for now... but sooner or later... .Digi won't be making PCI cards anymore.. and then when they aren't worth as much as they are worth now..... you'll have to upgrade to PCIe.

Digi's history on hardware seems pretty consistant. Can't tell you when, but I would find it not keeping with their history to continue to support both PCI and PCIe forever, and clearly PCIe is what the future is about.

Thanks Ian,

I called to confirm that they are running a Crossgrade special and they now seem to be "in the know"..

I know this comes up all the time but.....

So this offer will expire on Dec. 20th. Is it the popular opinion that this is just the end of "this" promotion or is there some sense that these exchanges are going away? Also, As we all know the PCI-x to PCI-e exchange prices are not very compelling. Any thoughts as to whether these will become even less attractive? FWIW (to the best of my recollection) in the past the "hardware exchange" rates remained fairly consistent for long periods of time. I only swapped for HD2 Accel from D24/and PCI farm cards 2 years ago (for a very fair price).

not until the PC side converts over to fully PCIe

and by then there will be a new DSP chip set so the old cards will be obsolete
