Default Carbon in use

Call me a fan boy , but boy oh boy for my personal situation I really like this unit, the ease and simple intuitive nature of the controls and implementing DSP mode, is very well thought out. And for me the sound is really great , compared to my old system with OMNI and HD Native the recording in DSP is I think a noticeable improvement (I guess something more like recording in full analog) and noticed no latency even when recording the vocal with an EQIII and with Avid's "Space" reverb in native format

I have also played a number of old sessions, from other versions of PT and older Mac OS's,,, mostly Mojave and High Sierra and all played without issue ...

Honestly the only issue was I could not for life of me find the user manual PDF download on Avid's web sight'
Only after I stumbled on a link from Kyle Splittgerber in another thread did I find it Seems like it should be linked on the main Carbon FAQ page ???

I just tried a quick down and dirty recording, consisting of mic'ed (using Carbon pre's) one take pass each, for an Acoustic rhythm guitar track --- then dubbed a one take Lead/riff Acoustic guitar track and then dubbed a one take Vocal track,,,,, and was very impressed with both the ease and sound .. mix window looks like below

Yup, me too. Call me a fan boy if y'all want to also, I don't care. I've had mine about two weeks now and could not agree with you more.

The track presets that are available for Carbon are kind of interesting. In my opinion, they are great for tracking, whether that is done much later during the build of the session or at the beginning. I have both left them as is, and also just changed the sends to whatever the session reverb and delay is for more cohesiveness.

The immersive audio plugin is....interesting also. Taking a picture of my right ear CLEARLY, was a particular challenge. It's an interesting plugin, but I am used to my room, and probably won't use it.

BTW https://resources.avid.com/SupportFi...rbon_Guide.pdf here is the link to the user manual if someone else finds it difficult to locate.

Thanks so much for the feedback and being early adopters, guys! It's incredibly fulfilling to hear you're enjoying the product. I'll be sure to share this with the team. 😁

And, I'll request that we add a link to the guide on the FAQ page. I agree it'd be helpful to have it there.

This is also a good centralized location for various Carbon resources.

I'll have to check the track presets, I have always for years now just made my own. But with the way I have my session templates made up, I seldom use track presets

Sure, it's there now.

And, perhaps an easy URL to remember is: http://www.avid.com/carbon-support

Documentation is found at the bottom of the page.

Excellent
Now the other problem with this damn Carbon thingy is the dilemma that now it temps me to re record many of my old sessions,, when I know I should just focus on writing new material and recording new sessions. . ha yes first world problems

I should be getting my new DB 25 cables this week which means I can hook up the rest of my outboard gear (M7 & 3U and MP2-A ) And I like that I can bypass the Carbon mic pre's when using my mic pre. But I have to say again I was also very impressed the Carbons pre's (which as noted in my OP I used on the above test session) they had a very clean, present yet musical (not sterile ) quality to them and honestly I would completely fine with using only them, if I did not already have a mic pre .... But since I do , I am really looking forward to also hearing my A Designs MP2-A pre, through the Carbon as well .

Some photos of the above described test session recording situation (As you can see it is literally a "Bedroom" studio)

It would be intersting to hear a shootout between Carbon and Omni both using internal pres and external pres. I have Omni+Native Pci and im looking forward to when Carbon becomes Windows 10 compatible.

I’ve invested in a $4000 dollar 14 core pc 2-3 years ago so getting a new mac is not an option right now.

I agree it would be interesting to hear such a A/B ( and I am fully aware I may just be on buyers bias mode) in thinking there is something just a bit better sound (present, clear and musical) with the sound of Carbon pre's converters, and the 32 bit throughput )

Unfortunately I had to sell both my Omni's to help fund the Carbon purchase.
