Hi Jonny, Use a warm mic with a smooth upper mid character, sweep the Eq and pull skinny slivers out, usually between 1 and 3.5k or where it gets peaky and tell the singer how much you love the modern vocal sound as the cash is being counted. Good luck.

I find the RE20 a little thick for most vocals but in this case, who knows?

i use the re-20 on thin vocals.. and the akg 414.. on good vocalists.. lol.. i have a couple sennheiser 441's and 421's.. those arent usually used on vocals.. but i guess i'll just try it.. and i'll try that EQ sweep you mentioned.
