Default Having trouble importing audio

So, I am doing some dubbing for a media company and they recently assigned me a movie, no problem. Thing is, whenever I import the movie, great, but when it comes to the audio import, it goes by VERY slowly. Last time this happened, the audio was pretty much damaged (at the end it literally had like a broken record effect).

To be more specific, as the audio is importing, the 'Processing Audio' progress bar slows down to the point that it can be an hour and it is still "processing" and I'm not even sure it's going to import properly.

I understand that the files are lengthy, but I know this is not supposed to happen, because it also happened with another file that was four times smaller.

I've already tried restarting my computer, closing down other software, creating a new session... Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?

Use the free Shutter Encoder to strip the audio from the video, then import the Wave file.

What is the codec of the audio? (not the container!)
Good chance it is something Pro Tools doesn't support and you'll have to extract the audio and convert it outside of Pro Tools. If you have sync pops, it'll be easy to align back in Pro Tools.
