Default purchasing digi 002 soon...I think

hey guys Im not new to the boards, but Im new to the mac forum. Currently I have an mbox and pc, however this summer I am considering purchasing a mac and a digi 002. The reason i am here is cause I have been looking at the digi, and than sort of looking a little further into maybe getting into hd and tdm. I know its more moola, so I would be saving for it a bit longer. The Basically i want to know how great of a sound I can get with a digi 002. should I get the digi, i will also purchase an 8 mic preamp with adat, so i can add 8 mic channels, for good seperate drum tracks. How satisfied will I be with this set up? Are we talking proffesional quality? Im in a rock band, and have really gotten into recording, and possibly want to take recording somewhere. I just want to know that I can get a great sound. if anyone has samples, suggestions, or anything please feel free!

Hey drummerfreak33,
The sample on my web site www.statelinestudio.com was recorded with 001 and a Focusrite Octapre. All of the drums went through the Octapre.

yeah I understand that it really is a whole big ordeal and everything. Im sort of just wondering how much room I will have to grow with the digi 002. Being that further down the line Ill be purchasing plugins, and everything else.

If you can't make a good recording with a 002, you shouldn't be doing recording. It's a great piece of gear, though not without its faults (like extremely hot pre's with no pads). Pairing a 002 up with an 8 channel lightpipe pre amp works very well. It's also one of the major steps to maxing out it's input abilities.
