Default Exporting Clip Definitions

Hi,

I am hoping this is a simple oversight on my part, but I am having trouble exporting Clip Definitions. Maybe I am misunderstanding it, or doing something wrong?

I've imported a Stereo WAV file into protools using the Shift-Command-I, then hit the convert button (my only option) and imported the file to my session. I then dragged the file from the Clip Bin onto a stereo track. After highlighting a section of the clip, separating it, and renaming it, I tried to export the clip definition, so that when using the stereo track in another session, I could easily grab the part I wanted.

When I went back to the location where I got the original file that I had imported, there were no clip definitions on the file.

I did see the clip definitions of the file in my Audio Files folder though.

I was hoping to have the definition exported to the original file. Is this possible, or is this the way Pro Tools is set up? Can I do something in preferences to change this?

Thanks for your help!

Clip definitions exist within the parent audio file and can only be accessed from the import audio dialog when the parent file is selected.
