Default I/O error (-36) after installing 7.2

I'm getting the error message "I/O error (-36)" when recording audio after installing 7.2. It only happens on one partition of a drive; all other partitions record just fine. I made sure the volume is set to record, trashed pref's and databases, checked drive with Disk utility and still the same problem. Also, once I work with a session on the problem partition, the problem occurs no matter what drive I use. Restarting Pro Tools is the only way to clear the problem.
System:
Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5
1GB RAM
PT HD-2 acell v7.2
OSX 10.4.5

*I also just noticed that when the problem is happening, the record button on the transport flashes and cannot be cleared.

** New info: When I get the "I/O error (-36)" message after a failed recording attempt, I noticed that an audio file had been created in the audio folder (but not in the region list). The audio file that is created is also very large (572.8MB). Since I am trying to record 24 tracks, 24 audio files are created which immediately fills up the drive. Sometime later, the same files now say they are only 4kB, and cannot be imported to a new session. Quicktime player says the files are corrupt.

*** When I switch back to 7.1cs6, everything is fine.

Make sure you uninstall Protools first before installing 7.2 ( The Must DO Golden rule),
Trash Database files .. repair permsiisions and your should to be good to go.

Update:
I uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired permissions, deleted prefs, databases but the problem persists. Also, I installed 7.2 on another computer in our facility and it has the same problem. Any ideas? Thanks,
jake

Try removing all the plug-ins from your plug-ins folder, trash preferences and try again.

The -36 error usually indicates file or drive corruption of some sort.

Hi,

did you check if all harddrives are on 'R' (workspace) and if 'Open-endet Record location' under Preferences - Operation is limitied to some time. I most of the time only need 5 minutes...

Good luck...

best from germany

Thanks Hanz,
Yes, I did check that. I'll try removing the plug-ins and a fresh install and see if that helps....
