Default Followup Question

I am helping my brother with his setup of a Motu MKII 2408 connected via Adat to the Digi 002.
Here is the setup
Adat out of Motu to Adat in of the 002
Motu clock set to Internal 002 set to external
Recording vocals to a track in Pro Tools shows activity, waveform etc
the problem is we can hear everything else in the session except the vocals even thoug the meters are moving
could someone help with this problem?
Thank you in advance

Is the problem when you are actually recording, or just have the track armed? If the latter, control-K. Turns off auto-input monitoring.

I am able to record, but i cant hear while I am recording or during playback, i am able to hear the other tracks in the session that were recorded using just the 002, the vocal were recorded with a preamp connected to the Motu, so the vocal came in thru the motu, and i cant hear it during playback, ,maybe there is some setup with the motu and the 002 that i am missing

Weird. Let me see if I understand right. You record on a track, it shows the waveform and the meters show normal activity, but there's no audible sound from that track? It's output is assigned the same as tracks you can hear? What happens if you:
Switch to internal clock
Close Pro Tools
Disconnect the Motu device
Launch Pro Tools
Make a new session at the same sample rate and bit depth
Import the audio from that track into the new session?

Is the output of the vocal track set to something other than "Stereo 1-2" or "Analog 1-2"?

What we've got to do is find out if the file being recorded actually has normal audio in it. That's the point of importing it into a different session without the Motu connected. If it plays normally, then you may have stumbled on a major bug. If it doesn't, then the problem is more likely in the record signal chain; i.e., the audio's not really getting to the track to start with.
