I haven't used Boom yet so I could be wrong but...

If you have set up a beat in Boom, to have it play it will need a MIDI note on its instrument track (The MIDI note basically works as an on switch for Boom). This note will be at the start of your song if you have drums playing from the beginning. Therefore if you start Pro Tools playback from a point after this MIDI note, it will not start playing because it will not receive the message to start (the on button is not triggered as you have missed it out by starting midway through the song).

To remedy this, you could record Boom's output to an audio track. Set the output of the Boom track to an empty Bus (probably Bus 1&2). Create an audio track (stereo I presume) and set its input to Bus 1&2 (or whatever you chose earlier). Arm your new audio track for recording, press record and play and you will have an audio track of your Boom drums. You can then disable and make inactive your Boom track and save some CPU power.

Only drawback to this is if you want to change anything about your drum track you will need to go back to Boom, make the changes and then record it again.

Hope that helps
Paul

I was having the same problem, i resulted in recording BOOM as audio but I want to know without triggering it with my keyboard can i sync it to play ( example : Reasons redrum ) so without recording anything you can test it against your track ?

Any help much appreciated

Not without a trigger.

Click on the "Wrench" icon and set the timing to BEAT.

Your triggers are the key of middle C (I think) and up. In your instrument track record a C note. You'll notice if you hold it down it'll loop, but if you don't it'll abrubtly stop.

Now...press the play button on Boom----green arrow. and let it play for a second or two. Now hit play on your keyboard/transport button......if you hit stop on your session now the whole track/pattern should stop. Now, by hitting the play again on the transport/keyboard...it should now be sync'd up and ready to go...

It works for me...it seems mickey mouse to me, but that's what I do to get Boom to sync with everything and trigger the patterns.

Just make a really long midi note for each loop you wish to have played. So if you have 2 parts, one starts on Middle C and the next is D then make two long notes for the length of loop you wish to use
