Default Intentionally delaying the start of recording

I record by myself and thought there was a way to intentionally delay the start of the recording by 10 seconds or so. I always use two measures of click intro to set the timing and know when to start but this is a little challenging when I'm recording live drums. I've tried longer cables/wireless mice to start it when I'm behind the kit and ready but still would prefer the time option. Is this possible?

No one else has heard of this as a possibility?

You mean preroll?

If you want to start the recording when you're behind the kit, try a foot pedal. I took the one from my V-amp, worked well with the 003

You can 'insert time' at the begining of the session. Put your cursor at the begining of the session by pushing 'Enter'. Then, I beleive, go to 'Edit' and it should be in the 'Edit' section. A dialog box will open asking how many bars, min/sec, etc. you want to insert. I'm sorry I don't remember the exact process and I'm not near my PT rig but YES, it is possible to do this. Once you do insert time your counter in the transport will count backwards untill it reaches the first beat of your session.

I'm familiar with inserting and adding time but what I'm after is just delaying the start without additional changes.

Does the Pre-Roll settings mentioned a few posts up do what you want? That is what I use and it works for me.

Explain exactly what you mean by "pre roll".

This feature allows you to set a specific time the audio will playback prior to the point where you want to start recording. It allows the talent (you or another musician/vocalist) to hear the previously recorded audio leading up to the point where it will start recording and thereby give you the proper sense of the tempo, rhythm, pitch, etc.

Here is an example: Say you want to punch in at 45.0 seconds. You mark this point to start recording. You set the "pre-roll" to 5.0 seconds. After you arm your track(s), you press the play button. The audio will play from the 40.0 second point (40.0 -5.0) but not be recording until it gets to the 45.0 second point you selected. The units can be measures or any other unit supported by Protools. This sounds like it may be what you need to use to give yourself time to get behind the drum kit or to hear the lead in to the part you want to record. You can set a longer "pre-roll" if necessary.

For a more precise explanation of this feature, look in the reference manual as I've just given you the high level casual description.
