Default B/W G3/350 card order!

I have just installed ProTools 4.3.2 on my new G3/350. I have 256MB RAM a 2940UW SCSI
accelerator and Mix 24 card. This is a 4 slot machine. Which order do the cards go in?

I was successfully running PT but as I got up to >= 12 tracks it started to complain about memory probs. When I run DigiTest it says that the SCSI card is in slot 3, the video card in slot 4 and the mix core card in slot 9. (huh?). It gives me Err1220 and Err4 on the SCSI and video cards respectively, claiming that the system is misconfigured. The manual does not address the card order for a 4 slot PCI G3.

When you open up the G3, there will be rails for the end of the PCI card to slide into when you put them in the computer. These are labelled 1,2,3,4. On my Rev.B G3, the first slot is a 66mhz PCI slot - the video card from the factory comes in this slot, and it needs to stay there. Slot 2 (33mhz?? - can't remember) will be the first PT card - Mix24 in your case. Slot 3 is reserved for your second Digi card if you have one. If not, leave this one empty. Slot 4 is where the Adaptec scsi accelerator will go. If you try and put the scsi accelerator in slot 3, it will probably give you some errors, although I thought that it actually gave you an error that said scsi card in wrong slot.
I believe that the reason you have to skip a slot in single digi card systems is that you want to make sure that the scsi accel. and digi card are on different PCI bridge chips (I think...) At any rate, that's what worked in one system I put together.

Slot 3 PT 24 mix card
Slot 2940uw SCSI card
This order is from the top down.
