Midi Editing in PT 7.4.2?/SD2
Hi,
I recently got Superior Drummer 2, I've resisted Midi for a long time and I'm a total newby to it. I am currently running PT 7.4.2 and as outdated as this is I'm loathe to upgrade as all my plugs (Waves SSL, Music Production Toolkit etc) are all working and frankly it does everything I need . . .or so I thought. I bought SD2 and was under the impression that the EZ Player Pro would allow me to edit grooves the way I want them. All I really want is to be able to see every beat and if needed move a kick drum, drop in a crash cymbal and so on, editing essentially. Having played with EZ Player Pro for a while I'm getting the feeling it won't let me do this? I trawled around the web and it seems that a proper midi edit window was first included on on PT8? Can you good people confirm if this is correct and if so is there any other way of programming the drums manually without upgrading? Basically I need to know what the best route is to get the functionality I need. Many Thanks for any help.

Re: Midi Editing in PT 7.4.2?/SD2
I use ezdrummer for drag&drop drum loops. Once I have the "performance" the way I want, I can swap out the ezdrummer for Superior Drummer to use different kit sounds. Lately, I have just been playing in the drum parts(too many loops to audition) with either a Roland TD10 kit, or an M-Audio Trigger Finger. Play it in, quantize where needed, edit as I build the song....works for me

Create a MIDI track in Pro Tools, and drag the groove that you want to edit from the Groove Player of Superior Drummer into the Pro Tools' MIDI track.
Edit the groove in Pro Tools. |

Re: Midi Editing in PT 7.4.2?/SD2
I would do it on a Stereo Instrument track. Insert SD2 in the top slot and drag the loops onto the instrument track in GRID mode.
