Default PT M-Powered with FW400 bus powered audio drive?

I'm setting up a semi-portable rig (iMac G5 1.9ghz-2.5gb ram-PT M-Powered-Firewire Solo) after being away from PT LE for the past few years. Is it possible/recommended/not recommended to use bus powered FW400 drives as audio drives like this one:

Do drives like this fry during BTD or any other drive-intensive tasks?

Yes, bruceup, it'll be fine. Just don't have anything else drawing power on the FW bus (like a FW audio interface), as on your iMac there is only 8 watts total power allocated to the two FW ports - a bus-powered drive will draw 5-6 watts all by itself. Just make sure your audio interface is either USB or AC powered.

Why would you want to use a bus powered drive anyway?

I dunno. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Well, I just got the bus-powered drive and tried it out for myself-it works GREAT. Thanks to one and all for your help.
