Default How do you get outboard effects into the 002Rack?

I'm new to the 002 Rack interface and I'm curious how I would get outboard effects into the ProTools 002 system such as a TC Helicon Voice Prism Plus? Also, is it worth the effort?

Instead of putting in a plug-in choose and I/O of any number but 1 or 2. (1 and 2 could be your speaker outputs so just to make sure...) So, lets say you select 3. From the back of the 002 send a cable from the output of 3 to the input of your effects unit, then send out of the effects unit into the input of 3 on the 002, and thats it.

would you run the signal to be fed to the FX in through an AUX track, then have that track go out through an out, then feed the FX back into the 002 as an audio track? This would only work for the actual recording, not as an addition to something that has been recorded, of course.

This is the problem I have had with it. I just started messing around with this last week. When I did it, I was using an already recorded track and sending that signal out to a compressor. The problem of course was that I had to bounce that track down to another to get the effect painted on the track. Without even looking I knew there had to be some latency, and of course there was. I was able to line up the the new 'painted' track with the original though.

I would not advise to record using this setup, you might as well run the signal to the effect before you send it into protools. If you were you record the track with this setup you would have latency, but no reference to fix the problem.

I hope this is what you were wondering...

Robert
