Move/Trim Regions vs. Logic
I'm learning the PT software after years of Logic Audio as a front end for PT.
One thing I would like to ask people is how you go about moving and trimming regions with regard to grid and slide mode because this works very differently from Logic. For example (using an established tempo): you want to copy and paste 4 tracks of background vocals to 4 out choruses but they need to be trimmed individually first to eliminate breaths. So you separate out the the desired regions from the full takes, go to Slide mode, trim each one, then go to Grid mode and move them out to the next chorus -except now the start times have all locked to the grid setting and are no longer in time with the music. The other thing I thought was to position all the regions using grid mode then do a group trim in slide mode. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to group trim regions. I'm just wondering how people go about this procedure in PT because with logic you can always trim-move things and they will retain their relative positions to the beat. One other related question. I've noticed when I move a small region on top of another larger region this region gets cut. Is there anyway to avoid this? I think so far that PT is well laid out and not too difficult to learn compared to Logic but it's handling of regions in grid mode is an unforutnate flaw.
