Default Structure 1.1 looping/x-fades

Trying to loop a sample wave form but it doesn't appear to be working right-
With the Loop and Edit X-Fade buttons on, instead of a canny, adjustable green X across the loop end point, there's just a green line along the end point line, with 2 dots at top and bottom. Moving the dots doesn't help- makes a break in the wave form, seems to be moving the end point, but not the fade. To the left of the loop end line, the wave form is drawn as a grayed out continuation of the loop, (the actual tail of the audio past the loop point is covered by this). I could upload a screenshot but don't see a place to do that.

Any ideas?
