Default -6101/-9138 errors - "low on memory" - any ideas?

Running 8.0.3 on MacBook Pro Intel with 4GB RAM, OS 10.5.8
MBOX Pro.

I recently added MOTU Orchestral Instruments and Structure/EastWest Orchestra for Structure. Now ProTools is acting really funky - I get 6101 and 9138 error messages, but moreso, PT now takes a REALLY LONG TIME redrawing screens when zooming in and out, when copying MIDI notes it hangs up.

Eventually I get a "ProTools is very low on memory" message, and crashes soon after. I have plenty of memory, never had this problem before. Can't get my work done like this!!!! Any help appreciated!

I came on here because I was having a similar problem (although I have a very different set up).

I went to the playback and engine, and reduced the number of host processors by one additional (I had previously had it set at one less than maximum per Digi's recommendation).

Even though I was reducing the amount of CPU power allotted to protools, this freed up CPU power for other things (i.e. plug ins) and seems to have solved my problem.

It seems backwards to reduce the CPU power when getting an error saying you're running out of CPU power, but by forcing PT to run with less, the system as a whole can run smoother.

And it does say pretty clearly in the

Quote:
6086, 9128 or other errors when using certain plug-ins, VI's, software synths or samplers

Reducing the number of CPU's in the Playback Engine may be required for certain plug-ins to function properly with Pro Tools.
