Default stupid newbie question

Hi all

I don't know how to hook up my particular gear
so I can record MIDI tracks thru the 001. I
did a search on here but unfortunately I don't
understand the concepts of MIDI in and out and
chaining things together. I'm sorry in advance
for taking up someone's time with this.

I have a Korg X5 keyboard I use as a controller
(no sound) into a Roland JV-1080.

Can someone please tell me as if you're talking
to someone who knows NOTHING about this -
what MIDI cord goes to what MIDI in and out
on the three devices.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the 10000th
question about this.

P

Hey Paul -

In a nutshell:
- Connect the Korg X5 MIDI Out to the 001 MIDI In
- Connect the 001 MIDI Out to the Roland JV-1080 MIDI In

Please check out the Getting Started with Digi 001 pdf - pg 42 describes MIDI connections. There is also other helpful info about MIDI in that guide, as well as in the Pro Tools Reference Guide.

These should be in your Digidesign/Pro Tools/Release Notes & Documentation folder, and can also be downloaded from our document library:
