Very interesting. Thanks for sharing your detailed info. I'm not clear on the architecture of those cards, whether or not it "spills" over into the computer's cpu when it runs out of card-DSP.

When you would "hit the wall" in your tests, was that wall defined by just the card's limitation, or was the wall hit when the card + the computer couldn't take it? You know what I mean? Is it...

Scenario A:
9 realverb pros + most of the rest of my CPU (65% or so?) still available for my other plugs, processing, etc.

- or -

Scenario B:
9 realverb pros + [nothing]

I know that the wrapper takes a little (???) of the native cpu power, but if it's more like Scenario A, that makes it very appealing.

Thanks again,

- Proxy

Default Re: Uad 1

ok yeah sorry I could have added more info

My card was set at 85 % cpu load so I probably couldve pushed more if set to 99% but I like stabilityso 85 %

is the highest I will go ( not that 99% is unstable I dont know I never tried )

And as for the host cpu It gets hit differently for different plugins

The 1176 SE for example had no cpuload on the host ( or close to none )

and some made it go to half way and some filled the card memory before cpu

I believe 1176 was the most host cpu heavy though Oh and the pultec is the same at all sample rates because

it ALWAYS operates at 96k or something like that check UA webpage for more info on that

so I hope that clears it up a lil for ya guys

feel free to ask some more questions if you have any or I left something out

thanks

Did you do this test with the VST adapter from UA that was designed for the UAD
or was this done with the VST to RTAS adapter that FXpansion made prior to
UAD requesting one for their card.

Thanks.

Hey,

Thanks Mersis, this is very helpful. So you're saying that once you loaded, say, nine 1176s (in 44k), that was pretty much it for your whole setup plug-in wise? You couldn't have 9 1176s, plus 2 Ren-Verbs or something like that?

I own the mackie card so yes I had to also buy the VST2RTAS from FX pansion

and these tests were performed so that no CPU was left on the card or as close to it as I could get in these

plugin intervals . so you might be able to get another se 1176 on these tests maybe

I also stated that these tests were done at 85 % so setting it to 99% mightn increase results more

but you may jeopordize stability I dont know Im a conservative in this sense

thanks for the positive feed back guys i really love these plugins cant wait to try the pultec pro

as the pultec really rocks !

Thanks again for the continued play-by-play.

Excuse my ignorance about the UAD card. Are you referring to a percentage amount you can set separately for the UAD card, or are you referring to ProTools' internal cpu percentage?

Sorry for the need of overclarification, I just want to make sure I'm getting what you're saying.

Thanks for your patience,

This a separate question.

Did the origianl Mackie you purchased come with more plugs than new one offered
by UA now, I mean the higher priced card they offer.

And I would like to know if PT can control fader automation on your GS3 board from
Allen & Heath, if that is the one with automation.

Thanks.
