File size to an external link of an image? Since this area has very little activity, maybe test it out in PT 10 General Discussions? Or maybe a more reserved and conservative forum like HDX and HDN on Windows perhaps. This feature will help out many and will be of great benefit communicating to those whos English isn't their first language.

This last bit might be a challenge:

Quote:
Images must be Avid or OS related, and Avid reserves the right to delete any image from any thread. When quoting posts, do not include images from the original post.
What a relief to finally see this feature added.

It's Pro Tools LE 8.0 in the first image with my own custom PT theme for Windows, and a very customized version of REAPER's edit window in the second image. The intent of the latter is to demonstrate the advantage of being able to see the waveform when moving, trimming and slip editing. Not an X vs Y DAW debate.

Unknown to many, PT does have this ability which I can demonstrate. I don't think many at Avid are even aware of this. Unfortunately it's in an area that can mess things up if one is not careful. It needs to be carried over into the main waveform view.

Yea I am not in the WAR of DAWS. If the tool works use it. If you can make this happen in Pro Tools 9 you need to bring it good buddy and quit sitting on it?

+1! I think we're all past that now that we can use PT on any other hardware I/O and use Avid hardware I/O with other audio apps. Funny how this changed the whole perspective on this subject on the DUC.

I'll post a screen shot later on. It's half baked and not that usable in editing though, but it does work. Avid Audio will have to do their magic to make it functional waveform view.

Since this is a trial, here is some feedback from my own use of images in forums. For very large images I recommend that the user use the standard BB code for thumbnail links to the larger image. If there is a discussion with a lot of large images, the page will load faster in web browsers with small thumbnail views. Also, reading threads with very large images is problematic, as sometimes they are to big for the end users monitor/browser size and they will have to scroll left to right just to read replies. You might want to add this to the terms of use.

Here is a thumbnail link example:

Here is an example of the BB code one would use for my thumbnail image link above:

HTML Code:

Hope that helps.

Too cool! To keep image size down Avid could just put a limit on upload file size which is an option on most forum software.

Shane, I have to ask, how did you capture the animated gif? That's awesome!

Does this only work in this subforum? I can only see the icon here, not in the Post forum where I normally hang out.
PS: and manually writing out the [IMG] tags does not work either...

The images are only links, in which they are hosted elsewhere so no worries on their size. If one can view a media rich website, there shouldn't be any problems.

I believe I used licecap by Cockos for that one. Many Screen capture apps will allow one to save to animated gif.

Perhaps we could extend this to the "HDX Windows" forum. Being a new release, it should be easy to observe and control.
