Default MIDI & Audio - drag-n-drop workflow tips?

I'd like to use the "bandmate" feature in EZ Drummer 3 where you can drag-n-drop a MIDI or audio file into the plugin so it can adapt a part to fit. Same with Omnisphere. PT doesn't support direct drag-n-drop from the arrange window and cutting a clip, saving, going to clips view to open the clip in finder, then drag-n-drop is a painful process. Can anyone suggest something more efficient?
TIA!

Try starting Pro tools in non-admin mode. It helped in a similar drag-and-drop situation. ( with a wave plug if I remember correctly. )
