Pro Tools Ultimate user might buy subscription?

Hi everyone!

I am a Pro Tools HDx/Pro Tools Ultimate user since TDM days.

My license has recently expired...my 'grace period' runs out on April 26th.

I have diligently paid my $399 renewal for the past 7 years.

I also have a dealer reinstatement code that I'm sitting on.

I am also an Adjunct Instructor at a community college. Students are great, but the pay, not so much.

Thus, I qualify for the Educational Sub for Academic users which is 'a bit' cheaper than the Ultimate Renewal.

If I buy an academic Ultimate subscription through a dealer and redeem it on my main AVID account, will I lose my 'expired Perpetual License' because of my HDx system ID? I seem to remember this happening to people in the past? But I *thought* it was because they bought directly from AVID.

OR do I need to make a new AVID account to avoid losing my Perpetual License?

I'm not willing to lose/forfeit my Perpetual License as my HDx system was quite costly and still has decent resale value.

Of course, if I can subscribe and keep my Perpetual license (to use my reinstatement on in the future) then I could wait a while to do so as I have 2023.3

Any advice is very much appreciated as I need to decide what is possible and perhaps purchase soon?

Sorry for the goofy purchasing questions but it seems quite difficult to completely understand.

Buying a new Pro Tools Ultimate EDU subscription will not affect your perpetual license. You don't need to create a new account for MyAvid and iLok at all.
