More info...
What do you mean by 'crash'?

System (mouse) Freeze?
Kernel Panic?
PT unexpectedly quitting (on launch or during a session?)?

How long have you had this system? There was a known issue with the motherboards on the G4 MDD (mirror drive door) macs that caused problems with certain PCI cards - the digi001 being one of those.

Has you system been stable in the past with ProTools and just recently started crashing? Or is it a pretty recent setup?

And as the previous poster mentioned, describing the kind of crash and when it happens will help a lot.

well first of all thanks for the responce! thats really nice of you guys, now some discription of the crashes:

un expectly quit during load , mouse frezze , kernel panic - and most of all black drop screen with the message for reset please

i have this system for long now , allmost 2 years - the problem neber stoped - i usually referd to it as ram problems - (wich is possible but i belive it somthing else) i have the G4MMD 1.25 - if it is that problem i am [bleep] up?

might have absolutely nothing to do with what operating system you're using or what version of PT

if you've had those crashes for a long time now, the kind you describe sound like they could be a hardware problem with the machine

i use 6.4cs9 and OS X 10.3.4 for months now with absolutey not problems

try a new computer

seekerian
My experience has been just the opposite. 6.4 is waaaaay more stable than os9 pt5.

hey Seekerian, c'mon, thats not true...i bought a powerbook and 002R in november after 2 years with a G4 733mhz quicksilver and 001, mega stability, and have not had any problem whatsoever, it's also very, very stable...i'm making professional recordings for professional musicians with no problems whatsoever...
try installing the PCI card in another computer and see what happens...could be a RAM problem, try unplugging third party RAM and reinstalling it, i had a problem like this once and i just unplugged the RAM and replugged it back in and all my problems were resolved............try working with smaller record labels...he, he......just joking,...

I totally understand how you are feeling......you need to complete your album and not let this stop you.

If i was you......i would BACK TRACK

re-install OSX 10.2.8 and an earlier version of PT like 6.1.2

i am not a pro by any strech, and maybe others will say this is stupid, but i have read many conflicts
with upgrades.

did your PT ever work right......if so what was the situation ?

Also check your machine, make sure RAM, and your card is seated tight, test w/ other demanding programs
if you have a crash.....then you know its your system, don't freek.....take it in and have it fixed by a pro,
if you can't raise the cash......well if you want to succeed, you will donate blood.

Keep in mind that one little thing can screw up the whole deal......once i couldn't load songs because
the title was too long in a sub-folder, thanks to these guys i got my song back.

Im assuming you have plenty of HD space.......you go under a gig and things start getten weird.

The problem IS solvable !

Make it happen dude.
