Also, this is a mono effect by nature.

I'm really digging the Waves H-Delay You can also get some "analog" goodness by running any delay plugin thru an EQ(roll off all the highs) and maybe even add a bit of grit with Sansamp or the AIR distortion plugin

I am Waves free and life is good sir!!!!

And Why would you use any other plugin for "grit" besides Decapitator?? Was just using it on a track and realizing how much I still love it!!!

guitardom. Hey! I know I'm an old stick in the mud and you guys have it all over me as to computer smarts but if you have a tape machine that still works why not try my suggestion? At least let me know what's wrong with it, why you think it wouldn't work, etc. One of us might learn something from the other. I thought that is what this is all about. Maybe then I wouldn't feel like I'm being ignored!

Tape alone won't give you the rockabilly effect; you're going to need some kind of reverb along with it. And the tape machine has to have separate record and playback heads which most professional ones do. Also a tape machine will only give you one delay time which depending on the tempo of the tune might not work. Now an old Echoplex would really be helpful here. Actually there's emulations of Echoplexes out there that would work.

Slap echo was the poor man's reverb. Studios that could afford chambers or plates didn't use it much. Only 15 and 7.5 ips was available in the '50s. Varispeed recorders didn't become common until the 1970s. Terry's method would be the best. The only thing better would be an old Ampex at 15 with the eq. set to 7.5.

Sadly, I don't have that one As for using a real tape machine; kinda tough to keep it "in the box" that way

I was not ignoring you, it is just overkill for this project. As I stated, its a demo for a band to send to venue's looking for gigs. They tracked everything and are having me mix it. Its a low paying project and if they want mixes tweaked or things changed, I want the recall and fixes to be painless as possible. Honestly, its just not worth the effort in this situation.
