Editing Midi
Hey All,
I´ve been having this problem for a while now and it really is starting to get annoying. :) It´s that when editing midi (VI´s) sometimes when I select f.e. a 16 note the selector does not select it even when the note is right on the 16th beat (I´ve moved it there by hand and I´ve quantized it, but still the selector tool wont select it.) I´m am most propably doing something wrong and propably making a fool out of myself but even the less my question is, does anyone encoutered this kind of problem before ?-) I have a couple of pictures to show what I mean : - here I´ve dragged everything by hand to nearest 16th note beat and have selected the 16th "grid" normally with selector tool : http://www.valtone.com/pub/what%20is...antization.png - here I´ve quantized the screen and the "situation" above as 16th note and the result is : http://www.valtone.com/pub/what%20is...antization.png This happens to me quite often and is something I´m totally puzzled of. I don´t have any randomization etc on, so it´s clean quantize, but still the selector tool is off. Any help would really be appreciated! Thank you for your time, Jonne |

I noticed from your screenshots that the length of the notes is different by 1 sample. 6013 vs. 6014.
Not sure what causes this, but I'm guessing something in your workflow. It may be a bug.. Maybe it is a rounding error.. Are you changing the tempo at all? When the note length exceeds the grid selection, it won't be selected. Try to trim the notes to the grid...

Try the Marquee and check Attacks and Releases.

Flommer, yes, this is exactly what happens. I´m not changing the tempo anywhere in the song. It sort of seems that the grid is just off in some places ?!? I´ve been trying to find a logic, but there just won´t seem to be any. HA! I Just found it out.. If the grid is set to Min:Sec, then this illogical randomness while trying to select mididata happens. When I set it back to Bars:Beats now it selects everything as it should ?!
Thank you for your answers! Jonne |
