Default Recording and getting latency when play back the rec track

I'm running protools 7.3 with 002
when I play guitar and record it sound like everything is in time but when I play it back it sounds off
I did with a recording and with only a click track.

is there something where its taking in the live sounds sooner than it can out put the tracks?

Slipping everything is too much work!
Help!!
and thanks

Yes, the buffer. Depending on the buffer settings you're using, the material gets recorded a little ahead. Check the required nudge values here (Buffer Settings and Latency Times):

Do you have any plugins on the master fader? Try disabling them, they could be making you hear the click and any other tracks 'late'.

If you are using an Mbox, read up on how to use the MIX knob and mute track you are recording to(yes, it still records).

Hmmmmm... wonder what you'd find if you looked up the word "latency" in the index of the Pro Tools Reference Guide...

Page 263 of the 7.3 manual discusses all the options available to you.
