Pro Tools wont boot after a fresh install of windows
Hi,
I was having major problems with my machine so i decided to do an entire re-install of windows xp and all my apps. After installing windows, mainboard drivers and graphics card drivers, i installed PT LE 7.3 but the machine bluescreened before it could finish the installation. I thought i'd remove protools and run the installer again but when i select remove protools from the add/remove programs control panel i get a message saying something like... "there appears to be another version of Pro Tools installed on this computer, please uninstall this version first.......". That's obviously crap and really annoying cause it wont let me un-install PT. When i tried to boot PT i got an error saying the TPkD file is missing and needs to be installed. I think this is an ilok file and i dont have an ilok on this system so i dont know why its looking for this file. i downloaded the latest driver off the pace ilok site but the bloody zip file is corrupt and wont unzip. so i cant do that. So, i updated PT to 7.3.1 but that fixed nothing and i still cant un-install or repair pro tools!! Please Help!!! Re: Pro Tools wont boot after a fresh install of windows
TPkD are the interlok drivers. While the ilok does use them for functionality, Pro Tools itself also requires them as well without the ilok.
www.paceap.com It sounds more like you are having general computer problems (corrupt downloads, blue screens, etc)

Try searching the site or forums for some sort of special uninstall method. I remember reading about something like this so if they have made a guide it is probably something that happens often and that there is a way to repair. Good luck.

Missing TPkD file error.... You need to reboot after uninstalling it and before re installing it.
