A7n8x-deluxe wont show correct cpu speed-Help!
I just put together this system:
Asus A7N8X-Deluxe Amd XP2700+ 512pc2700 Crucial-Micron(1stick) Western digital 40gig 8mb(2) ATI radeon 9000 64mb Enermax case 350w power Volcano 11 XP home Everything went smooth booting up to Xp, but noticed the cpu read xp1500+ instead of xp2700+. I then flashed the bios to the latest version offered for my board and still nothing. Tried messing with multiplier in bios fast as I can get it to say is 2100+. Anyone have an idea? |

Re: A7n8x-deluxe wont show correct cpu speed-Help!
What the BIOS reports is not as important as what speed it's actually running at.
Right click on 'My Computer', select 'Properties', and you should see the true speed. A 2700+ T-bred should show about 2.17 Ghz. If it does, you're OK. If not, in the BIOS, try explicitly setting the FSB to 166/333 and the multiplier to 13.

tele player,
Thanx for the reply! I tried this already. Computer properties say XP2100+ 1.7ghz. The multiplier is set to 13X, and fsb 133 in bios. It still reads wrong. |

OH yeah I tried the 166/333 the first time and it wouldnt even boot right. I tried bringing the multiplier down to be able to use 166 and still didnt work.

I had a similar prob on the A7V333-X. I updated the bios and all went well.

Re: A7n8x-deluxe wont show correct cpu speed-Help!
I thought updating would solve the problem. I reinstalled Xp after the flash and all that. Is it possible that the CPU or memory are not good? Hell I dont know. Anyone else with this board have this happen.

This thing is driving me crazy!! Everything else in windows works great but the processor speed and you want what you pay for you know what I mean. Could this be a bad mobo, Processor, or Ram?
