Unstable connection between PT and DAR

Had a terrible time today. The connection between PT and the Dolby Atmos Renderer became unstable. So much so that re-renders were not monitoring properly when routed back into PT. All kinds of dropouts into the renderer. In the peripherals dialog all was fine and dandy but not with the PT/DAR. Eventually I re-installed PT and the DAR and things returned to "normal". Has anyone here experienced similar? Is the connection not as stable as we are led to believe?
