The CTRL key works for me on Mac, PT 2022.10 and is exactly what I was looking for, thank you Ben!

Now I can override group assignments in the edit window temporarily by holding ctrl while I click and raise or lower a volume fader. I struggled with this for years needlessly...thanks again
