Default Windows Guide - Windows 7 Optimizations and Troubleshooting.[349411]

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=349411

Just discovered this article - it'd be great if it could be added to the General Troubleshooting sticky!

I'm working on just that - we'll be consolidating all of the kbases in the General Troubleshooting thread as soon as we have all the appropriate ones written up. We've got a few other things (like videos) in the works as well...

cwsand, does this page sum up ALL optimizations necesarry for Windows 7, or are their extra tweaks I should know about somewhere else?

I remember optimizing XP and getting tweaks from from different sources.

Thanks

It covers the main ones. Some people get a lot deeper into windows with their tweaks, and some tweaks work work better for some users and worse for others. I mean, personally I have internet access on my DAW and while it may technically perform better without it (plus kills the chances of getting a virus) I don't have any issues with it. You may want to check the Unoffical Windows 7 thread for the optimizations listed there though many are the same as this article.

Black Viper has a set of tweaks for Windows 7. He was one of the go to people for XP tweaks.

Be sure to make an image BEFORE you do any tweaks from anybody.

Cheers,
