Hey guys,

Does Commit Tracks include HEAT in the process? Or not?

I just tried a null test, it appears that it does not! Good to know.

I'm using it in post, and it doesn't either.

From the manual. Only in Pre does HEAT commit.

What Gets Committed

Committing a track always renders the following:

• Clip Gain
• All Inserts (or Commit to Insert)
• HEAT, if Pre-Insert (Pro Tools HD only)
• Elastic Audio

The following source track data is always copied to
the new track when committed:

• Timebase
• Elastic Audio Algorithm
• Solo Safe
• Track Input assignment (unless the channel
width changes)
• Track Output assignment
• HEAT settings (Pro Tools HD only)

I didn't realize there was a 'pre' & 'post' setting. Does anyone know if it makes a diff in overall sound? Reading thru manual indicates that it 'defaults' to pre setting. But in looking at my system, audio tracks seem to default to post. Which is probably better for the way I work, since I like to put any native plugins first before DSP. Apparently using native plugs in 1st slot uses extra voices when Heat is set to 'pre'. Maybe I need to send Dave a note to help explain all this…..
