Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 update - FIXED
FIXED - See my last post
PROBLEM - When I updated to Windows 10 N from Windows 8.1, I will not get the 11R Editor starting. Here is my Error message: C:\Program Files\Avid\Eleven Rack Editor\FFmt.dll could not be loaded. Please contact the software publisher for support using this software. Error details: Import DLL WMVCore.DLL can not be loaded. Does anyone have the same problem and/or have found a solution? I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times without luck, and I think I have wiped all prefs etc before reinstalling (If not the Prefs are hiding somewhere in a strange place). Any help/suggestions out there? Thanks in advance

Re: Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 update
When you say preferences do you mean the eleven rack editor preferences? I believe there are some specific to the 11R also.

I am searching a bit here, and the FFmt.dll file certainly is from Avid. We'll see how it goes (running a system scan now, as we speak ;-))

Re: Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 update
Did you do an in-place upgrade of Windows, or fresh install? Running Win 10 with my Eleven Rack and the only issue I had (as mentioned in another thread) was I had to install QuickTime. But I wasn't getting the error you are, just a blank white editor window.

Re: Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 update
First an in-place upgrade, then a fresh install.....
With the same error message. Does it need quicktime? I can't remember I have that installed on my win 10 studio computer (on which the Stand Alone Editor works). I have never used Quicktime for "anything", hmmm.

Re: Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 update
I didn't have QT installed on my system and the editor worked. So it isn't clear that it is necessary. You think if it was, similar to PTs installer a dialogue box would appear explaining the requirement.

Re: Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 N update - Fixed
After some digging and "mocking" about, I've found that the Eleven Rack Editor were dependent on the WMVCore.DLL to be able to load the "C:\Program Files\Avid\Eleven Rack Editor\FFmt.dll"
WMVCore.dll is part of the Windows Media Player package, and which by coincidence is NOT included in the Windows 10 Pro N. PS. The N version is a version without the media player, used in Europe, due to some lawsuits/trials against Microsoft "forcing" their media player on "everyone". On here: http://ms-vnext.net/UpdateArchive/ (Windows 10 Update Archive).... I found this: Windows10.0-KB3099229-x64.msu After installing this, and reinstalling the Eleven Rack Editor, it showed up as usual. Except for being off screen (changed/thrashed the prefs for position fixed this), and the mandatory first BIG white window PS. I'll leave the details above in here, in case it may help others with the same problem.

Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 update
Great information. Thank you for sharing. I uninstalled media player and center through Windows Program and Features; I'll continue to watch, however no adverse effects yet. I am assuming that the underlying dlls are still present.

Re: Eleven Rack Editor won't work after Win 10 update
Yep, the dlls needed are still there after uninstalling the Media Player/center, is my guess too.
The "problem" on those N versions (same in Win8 Pro N), is that nothing related to the Media player/center were never installed. PS. The N versions are directed by European Court, which stated that MS couldn't force their media player on their customers. The customer should be given a fair chance to choose for them self.
